PLANNING DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

The Planning and Development Department is a department under the supervise of Director General, Ministry of Tourism and divided into two offices as follows:

  1. Planning Development Office
  2. Information and Statistics Office

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICE

ROLES
The Planning Development Office is a technical office of the Planning Development Department, charged with studying, planning and proposing projects of tourism development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cooperate with other Department and relative bodies in order to study and prepare tourism development policy and strategy.
• Studying, organizing, monitoring and proposing the Tourism Public Investment Plan as well as local and international private investment in the tourism sector.
• Collaborate with other departments and concerned entities in order to facilitate the proposals of the Tourism Development Plan.
• Research and prepare elements of the master plan in the field of tourism development.
• Cooperate with other related entities to manage and monitor all tourism sites including construction and renovation plans.
• Analyze and assess the potential of resources and the outcome of implementation of development plans.

STRUCTURE

The Planning Development Office is separated into three sub-sectors as follow:
1. Public and Private Investment Sector
2. Studying and Planning Sector
3. Reporting Sector

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INFORMATION AND STATISTICS OFFICE

ROLES

The Information and Statistic Office has the role to research, study and market analysis, include data collecting, compilation and dissemination, data survey and prepare all tourist statistic in the whole country.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Studying all collected data related to national and international tourist statistics.
• Monitoring all activities and impacts that have influences to change national and international tourism markets.
• Tourist psychological and behavior studies in order to strengthen tourism services to welcome and to attract more tourist to visit Cambodia.
• Maintaining relationships with data collecting agencies.
• Compiling monthly, quarterly, semester and annual tourism statistical reports and brochures.
• Conduct tourism SWOT's analysis in order to evaluate and to predict the increase or decrease for the Cambodian tourism development in the previous / next years.
• Conduct seasonal and annual tourist survey.

STRUCTURE
The Information and Statistic Office is divided into five sub-sectors:

1. Data collection and public relation sector
2. Data compilation sector
3. The sector of monitoring, market research and project proposal
4. The dissemination sector
5. The sector of office equipment and recapitulation
