
GUATEMALA
VISA INFORMATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Citizens
of the following countries require a visa:
Required by all except the following for stays of up to 1 month:
(a) nationals of EU countries, Australia, Canada, Japan and US;
(b) nationals of Andorra, Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica,
El Salvador, Honduras, Israel, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand,
Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, San Marino, Switzerland, Taiwan,
Uruguay, Vatican City and Venezuela for touristic visits of up to 1 month;
(c) nationals of Bahrain, Czech Republic, Iceland, Kuwait, Philippines,
Poland, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia and South Africa, only if entering Guatemala
by air (provided they obtain a Tourist Card at the airport);
(d) transit passengers continuing their journey to a third country by
the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours, provided holding
tickets with confirmed onward reservations and not leaving the transit
area.
Note:
Nationals of Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Denmark, Finland,
Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, The
Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Uruguay may extend their
visit to 3 months by written agreement.
EXTENSION OF TOURIST AND VISITOR VISA
Petitioner
should submit request of extension and the required documents (as detailed
as follows) at Immigration Services. Visa shall have the same validity
of stay as the previous visa, with no extension. If petitioner entered
with tourist card, extension of stay is not allowed.
Petitioner
may be demanded to enclose to the request the following documents (besides
the passport).
REQUIREMENTS
·
International credit card, bank note or traveler’s check on petitioner’s
name.
· Affidavit of full age where states name, nationality, identity
document number, address, phone number, and capacity to defray trip expenses
and stay of the interested party.
Round trip ticket of air, land or sea transport.
VALIDITY.
Extension will have the same validity as the first visa, not extendible.
If authorized term expires before renewing the visa or exiting the country,
a fine must be paid at Immigration Services offices or at borders/airport.

BUSINESS VISA
REQUIREMENTS

Original Passport
· Recent photo
· Legalized copy of passport
· Certificate of occupation, mercantile registries of company or
partnership for which the petitioner works.
VALIDITY. Visa will have a term of six month and can be extended once for the same
term. Extension should be required before expiration of business visa.
Otherwise, the corresponding fine should be paid before requesting the
extension.
All
documents provided before Consulate of Guatemala in petitioner’s
country and the Department of Foreign Affairs should bear the corresponding
legalization seals, and the Guatemalan authorities can explain if they
are necessary.
STUDENT
VISA
REQUIREMENTS

Original Passport.
· Recent Photo.
· Copy of passport certified by consul of the country of origin
appointed in Guatemala or by the nearest consul.
· Annual education license or acceptance letter from the education
institution officially acknowledged.
· Letter of authorization from parents, if under age.
· Certificate of economic solvency, scholarship or financial commitment
from who will defray the education in Guatemala.
· Certificate of Criminal History issued by the corresponding authority.
EXTENSION OF BUSINESS VISA
REQUIREMENTS
·
Original and legalized copy of passport.
· Renewal of certificate of economic solvency. Once the business
visa term expires, temporary residence should be requested if stay in
the country is desired.
VALIDITY.
Visa will have a validity of six months, with no extension. Temporary
resident visa may be requested if planning to stay longer in Guatemala.
Extension should be required before expiration of business visa. Otherwise,
the corresponding fine should be paid before requesting the extension.

Exit
Permit:
Required by all except holders of a tourist card, those nationals declared
visa exempt by the immigration authorities, and passengers staying for
less than 30 days.
